A FUN challenge will see the mayor of Knutsford as you’ve never seen him before for his final fundraising event.

Cllr Stewart Gardiner is staging a 12-hour danceathon.

Inspired by the lockdown kitchen discos of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, he plans to livestream his efforts on the mayor of Knutsford Facebook page.

Cllr Gardiner is asking everyone in the local community to ask for song requests in return for a donation.

Residents and businesses can join him on the dance floor for 20 minutes for a pledge of £20.

“I’m so busy learning my dance moves, I’m out of breath,” said Cllr Gardiner.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support. I have my dancing shoes at the ready.”

All proceeds will be donated to the Knutsford branches of the Royal British Legion and St Vincent De Paul Society, the mayor’s two charities.

The danceathon starts at 10am on Monday, May 2, and runs until 10pm.
