KNUTSFORD FC have a new manager – and they also have time to get him acquainted with his new players.

Former Reds player Nick Ward has stepped into the breach to become the club’s third manager of the season following the resignation of Nathan Steele last week.

Ward arrives with eight games of the season remaining and with the club in serious danger of relegation from the Cheshire Football League Premier Division.

Their fate is out of their own hands – they sit second from bottom of the table having played more games than all of the sides in and around them including bottom side Daten, who have six games in hand.

Even before Storm Eunice decimated the footballing schedule at the weekend, Knutsford had a request to postpone their next two fixtures accepted by the Cheshire Football League as they attempt to reorganise themselves.

Last weekend’s trip to Winstanley Warriors and Saturday’s scheduled home fixture against Lostock Gralam will now be rearranged, with the club in the process of organising a friendly match or training session for this weekend.

Their next league fixture will be on Saturday, March 5, when Ward takes his side to Poynton.
