Award-winning Ellesmere Port salon owner launches first hairbrushes range

Richard Phillipart, owner of The Boutique Atelier in Underwood Drive, has used his many years of experience to launch his first range of hairbrushes, which are available to purchase from the salon or online.

Richard started working in hairdressing at the age of 13 as a Saturday boy at Robert Marc Hairdressing on Underwood Drive, Ellesmere Port in 1998.

Even then, the team saw the passion and determination in the young assistant allowing him to come in on training days with the apprentices while still studying at Stanney High School. Leaving school at 16, Richard started his full-time apprenticeship at the salon and studied at the Ellesmere Port campus of West Cheshire College on day release.

Twenty four years later and Richard’s salon The Boutique Atelier is, after three expansions, now located in that very same unit that he started in on Underwood Drive all those years ago.

He said: “I have spent the last 11 years of my career working across the globe and have styled the hair of supermodels for luxury fashion runways from Chanel in Paris to Givenchy in New York.

"Working at such a high end of the industry meant my equipment always had to be the very best quality.

"When returning to my salon to look after the hair of my clients, they would often comment on how beautiful my hairbrushes were."

During the nearly 15 years in business, Richard has positioned The Boutique Atelier as a workplace of elite artists who take their craft and transform it into an art form for the sophisticated clientele.

Offering their clients the very latest innovations in hairdressing, Richard and the team are at the forefront of the industry, regularly test running products and tools from hairdressing brands like ghd and L’Oreal Pro before they are released to the hairdressing industry.

This experience in product testing and pre production is what inspired Richard to create the first tools in his new line.

Richard added: “Making the quality of tools I love to work with accessible and affordable for all hairdressers and clients is a huge passion of mine.

Richard's range of luxury hairbrushes are available in three styles, large black (£24.99), large rose gold (£24.99) and medium black (£21.99), all of which are sold direct from his salon or online at www.theboutiqueatelier.co.uk . Richard plans to expand the range later in the year with more styles, shapes and sizes of brushes.
