BELLA, the pig is happy settling into her new luxury home.

The Animal Sanctuary in Wilmslow was looking for funding to buy a new arc for the 110 kilo farm animal.

Solicitors JBGass, on Adlington Road in the town, has supported the sanctuary for eight years and got in touch realising they may need support following the pandemic.

The conveyancing specialist helps people to move house and were delighted to hear that one of the resident pigs needed a new home.

Rick Barrow, marketing director at JB Gass, said: “I did smile when I was told that a pig needed a new home, nice coincidence given what we do as a business.

"We were delighted to step in and fund Bella’s new house.

“The pandemic has impacted the Animal Sanctuary as well as all charities.

"Having supported them in various ways over many years it was important for us to do something to show our gratitude for the work they do.”

The solicitors donated £520 to pay for a new shelter.

Colin Barton, chairman of trustees at the Animal Sanctuary, said: “The Animal Sanctuary is extremely grateful to JBGass for their support of our charity.

"It is rewarding to know that the work we do is acknowledged and appreciated.

“Bella has now moved into her luxury arc and is already making friends with her new neighbour, Daisy the donkey.”

The sanctuary was founded more than 50 years ago and is run by the Humane Education Society, a charitable organisation working for a more compassionate society through education and practical work with children and animals.

Volunteers rescue and re-home unwanted, abandoned, stray and ill-treated animals in a former turkey farm on Newgate.

Research has revealed that animal rescue charities lost more than half their income during the pandemic.
