A DEDICATED carer has been recognised for her 'invention and innovation' at a prestigious at the Great British Care Awards.

Amanda Burke, a senior care assistant at Carefound Home Care in Wilmslow, received the highly commended award in the Dementia Carer category

The Great British Care Awards pay tribute to individuals from across the UK who have shown outstanding excellence in health and social care over the last year.

A spokesman for the judging panel said: “Amanda has demonstrated invention and innovation that enables her to give compassionate quality care and meets the diverse needs of her clients.”

Amanda said: “I feel very privileged to have been recognised as highly commended at the Great British Care Awards for the support I provide to my clients living with dementia.

"It has been fantastic to be able to put the specialist dementia care training in the Specal method we receive into practice.”

The Specal method is a unique, practical and effective way to understand dementia from the point of the view of the person with the conditioin.
