A NEW veterinary clinic, which would create around six jobs, could soon open in Knutsford.

SR Veterinary Group has applied to Cheshire East Council for a lawful development certificate allowing it to operate a clinic in Windsor Way, off the A50 Manchester Road.

The clinic, which would occupy the ground and first floors, would mainly cater for small domestic animals.

The premises is an existing commercial building with 'long-established retail and business use'.

A covering letter, written by Plan A Ltd on behalf of the applicants, says an agreement is in the process of being reached with the landowner to occupy the building but confirmation is needed from the council before it is signed off.

It adds: "On behalf of SR Veterinary Group, we seek the council’s confirmation, by way of a Lawful Development Certificate, the applicant may lawfully occupy premises at Windsor Way in Knutsford as a veterinary clinic.

"The applicant proposes to occupy the ground floor and first floor of the Windsor Way premises as a veterinary clinic, which will provide a high-quality service to the local Knutsford population within walking distance of the town centre.

"The practice will primarily cater for small domestic animals and will create approximately six skilled and semi-skilled employment opportunities.

"The applicant is currently agreeing terms with the landowner to take occupation of the premises.

"However, before these terms are signed off, confirmation is required that it is lawfully able to occupy the building as a veterinary clinic."
