PUPILS at Gorsey Bank Primary School are bringing festive joy to children this Christmas.

Children have been busy over the past few weeks filling shoeboxes with new toys and decorating them with festive designs for The Children's Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT).

This charity provides support and respite for children who are terminally ill, disabled or disadvantaged and has been adopted by pupils as their special fundraising project for the year.

Set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, CAFT provides opportunities for children of all ages and abilities in activities such as art, music and gardening and also includes an adventure play area, sensory rooms, soft play and, of course, the much-loved farm animals.

All children visiting the farm throughout December will receive a Christmas gift.

Toys donated by pupils are certain to put a smile on the faces of the young visitors.

Joe Maguire, headteacher of Gorsey Bank, said:“It’s been wonderful to see the donations flooding in.

"I’m very proud of how hard the children have worked on decorating the shoeboxes to make them look as special as possible.

"Supporting the wider community is really important to us at Gorsey Bank and it’s been great to welcome Hannah from CAFT to school to receive the donations and talk to us about why they are so important.”

Hannah Grahame visited the school on Friday to collect the shoeboxes and delivered an assembly to pupils to thank them and provide them with an update on the farm.

The primary school has also set up a JustGiving page for donations to CAFT, which provides free days out and holidays for children.
