A 52-year-old man was taken to hospital for 'serious injuries' after being attacked at a nightclub.

The victim was assaulted at The Symposium Club on Grove Street in Wilmslow at around 2am on Saturday, December 4 by two men.

Detectives say the consequences of this attack 'could have been a lot worse' and are appealing for witnesses.

The victim has since been released from hospital after being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened at the live music and cocktail bar when two unknown men carried out the assault.

Detective Constable Tom Towe said: "The outcome of this incident could have been a lot worse and a number of enquiries, including CCTV, are currently underway.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that could help us identify those responsible.

"The same goes for anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage on the Grove Street area around the time of the incident but has not yet passed this onto police.

“Any information, no matter how big or small, will help us to piece together what happened and would be greatly appreciated.”
