A KIND hearted student who gave up her time to support the local community has been honoured.

Ella Senior is the first pupil to receive the new annual sixth form award from Knutsford Lions.

After achieving a hat trick three A*s at Knutsford Academy in the summer, she is now studying veterinary medicine at Edinburgh University.

The 18-year-old was presented with a certificate and £100 gift token in recognition of her commitment, resilience, service and achievement during the two years she spent in sixth form.

Ella received the award for the large amount of charitable works she has completed around Knutsford.

She was a volunteer with Mid Cheshire Riding for their riding for the disabled scheme and worked with older members of the community in the Old School Project with the University of the Third Age (U3A).

She also volunteered regularly at a local primary school and Tatton Park Farm.

Sarah Kirkham, head of the sixth form college at Knutsford Academy, said: "We are all really proud of how hard Ella worked both within school and the local community.

"She really deserves this recognition."

Paul Buttrick, president of Knutsford & District Lions Club, said: "We are very pleased to present this inaugural Knutsford Lions annual award to Ella, who has shown true commitment by combining her academic studies with volunteering and helping others in our community."
