HIGH Legh Park Golf Club has a new general manager.

Six months on from its acquisition of the Knutsford club, international leisure brand, American Golf, has invested in the senior management team with the appointment of experienced golf club manager, Stuart Buckley.

He lands in the role with more than a decade of direct management experience under his belt in north west golf clubs.

Buckley plans to prioritise the improvement of all course facilities, as well as increasing the accessibility of the club’s facilities to the local community.

And a new Il Corso Italian American restaurant concept has recently opened at the club, which also serves non-members.

“High Legh Park Golf Club is a real landmark on the northern golfing scene," said Buckley.

"I’m excited to have such a fabulous team and site to work with.

"American Golf’s ethos is to be inclusive, widening the appeal of golf to people who haven’t played the sport before, including women and young players and one of our big focuses will be to make the club as accessible as possible to the local community.

“Golf is proven to be beneficial for mental as well as physical health and we want more people to come along and try the sport. What’s more, you’ll be doing it all in the great outdoors surrounded by the most stunning Cheshire countryside."

He added: “High Legh Park Golf Club is perfectly equipped for all levels of golfer, with two courses, a driving range, pitch and putt, practice facilities and 23 Toptracer bays.

"The complex also boasts The Clubhouse Bar and Restaurant which overlooks the Cheshire parkland course.”

American Golf bought High Legh Park Golf Club in a £2.7m deal in April, marking the first time the retailer had owned an entire golf complex inclusive of courses, retail outlet, conference and event facilities and a food and beverage offering.
