A LUXURIOUS boutique hotel has named a suite in honour of recently retired stockbroker Jon Goldstone.

Co-owners of Stock Exchange Hotel, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Winston Zahra unveiled the newly named Goldstone suite as a tribute to Jon who lives in Knutsford.

Gary Neville joined Jon’s sons, James and Michael and colleagues from Redmayne Bentley, James Igoe and James Andrews for the special occasion.

After a 52 year career in stockbroking, before retiring from the Manchester office of Redmayne Bentley earlier this year, Jon was the last person to have worked on the trading floor of the Manchester Stock Exchange until it closed in 1979.

The hotel now has 40 rooms and suites and is also home to the Bull & Bear restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge situated within the renovated former trading floor, where traders like Jon spent their working days.

James Igoe, head of Redmayne Bentley Manchester, said: “We wanted to honour Jon’s commitment and dedication to stockbroking and where better than at the place where he started his career.

“As a team we love coming to this fabulous hotel and we know just how much the building means to Jon.

"We were thrilled when the hotel team loved our idea of naming a suite to honour his career in the city.”

Jon, who watched the suite’s new name being unveiled from his home in Knutsford, said: “I am truly honoured by this gesture from both my colleagues at Redmayne Bentley and the team at Stock Exchange.

"My years working within the building are very special to me.

"It’s where my career started as a ‘blue button’, before becoming an authorised dealer in 1974 and a member of the Stock Exchange in 1983.
