TOFT cricketer Phil Raikes impressed on his international debut for Gibraltar at the Valletta Cup.
Raikes marked his debut with a rampant 45* (26) in his side’s loss to Malta.
His knock included three fours and three sixes, as the 31-year-old smashed 20 runs off the last four balls of the match.
Raikes’ innings in turn gave him the opportunity to bat at number three in his side’s matches against Switzerland and Bulgaria.
On Saturday Gibraltar were history makers as they claimed their first ever T20 international victory, defeating Bulgaria by 37 runs.
Raikes scored a run-a-ball 10 in Gibraltar’s win, as they hit a huge 217-4 off their 20 overs.
In Sunday’s third place play-off the Toft batsman once again underlined his quality hitting 22 (16) before being run out late in the innings.
However, the match would end in agony as Gibraltar fell to a last ball defeat to Bulgaria, finishing fourth in the Valletta Cup.
