TATTON park will not be following the likes of other national parks in charging per passenger or person for access to the land.

The National Trust have come under fire from customers of Dunham Massey and Lyme Park for switching from a per-car parking price to a per-person charge.

Customers previously paid a price to park per car and if one adult in the car had a membership, they could all park for free.

Now, only the member can get in for free, so non-members in the car have to pay to park.

However, Tatton Park – which is managed and financed by Cheshire East Council on behalf of the National Trust – will not be following suit and will maintain their parkland admission charge if they arrive by car.

A spokesperson for Tatton Park said: “The parkland vehicle admission charge is important as it helps us look after this unique place to make sure it remains for future generations to enjoy.

“Tatton has no plans to change this to a charge per passenger.”

“This parkland admission charge gives people access to over 1,000 acres of managed parkland, meres and walking trails as well as car parking, a children’s playground, an information centre and Stableyard shopping, dining and toilet facilities.”

All vehicles entering the park pay £8 (including National Trust members). Vehicle park entry can be purchased at the gates on the day of your visit or booked online in advance.
