RESTAURANTS will be serving food in the street as part of a pioneering trial.

Three evenings of alfresco dining are being held in Knutsford to encourage families and friends to enjoy food and drink.

The weekends of September 10, 11 and 18 have been chosen to celebrate the town's hospitality industry and give local eateries a chance to recoup trade lost during the pandemic.

Sandra Curties, town centre and marketing officer said: “The past 18 months have been incredibly hard for everyone, especially our hospitality sector.

"These three evening closures will go some way to provide additional space to venues for their customers and the community to enjoy the amazing food and drink Knutsford offers."

A section of King Street will be closed on September 10 and 11 from 5.30pm to 11pm from the entrance to the car park by Chic Interiors to Egerton Square.

The full length of Minshull Street will be closed from 5.30pm to 11pm on September 18.

Sophie Roberts, of Project 53 said: “We are delighted to take part in Minshull street's first alfresco dining event. We look forward to greeting customers new and old.

"Good luck to our neighbours, Cafe on the Corner and La Casa Del Habano too. So come and discover Minshull Street, a warm welcome awaits whatever the weather."

Sandra Curties added: “It must be stressed these two weekends are trials and we will be evaluating feedback from those taking part, residents affected and those venues outside the road closures.

"We would like to see all our hospitality venues busy during these weekends and any shops wishing to stay open a little later will add to the continental atmosphere."

Amberon will be providing traffic management services and the roads will re-open at 11pm ready for the next day’s trading.

The following venues will be providing alfresco dining or drinking tables from 6pm to 10.30pm:
