YOUNG athlete Ben Keeley can reflect on quite a summer.

Wins at major events and achieving personal best times in doing so have made it a period to remember for the High Legh runner.

Keeley, who competes for Trafford Athletics Club, won the under 13s boys' 800m event at the Northern Athletics Championships which took place in Hull on August 14.

The Lymm High School student then went on to win the under 13s boys' 1500m in his first attempt at the distance the following weekend at the Cheshire County Athletics Championships at Ellesmere Port.

Keeley ran a personal best time of 2mins 17.18secs to take the 800m title and ran a time of 4mins 49secs in his first ever 1500m race.

“I’ve been training really hard, even running while away on holiday," said Keeley.

"I felt really good racing and was pleased I got a PB and two gold medals.”

He is certainly dedicated to his sport.

Keeley trains six days a week under Trafford AC coach Richard Goddard.

He has been running competitively since the age of eight after being inspired by the achievements of Mo Farah and Usain Bolt.
