A friendship cafe which supports people with dementia and their carers is reopening.

A warm welcome awaits everyone who returns to Knutsford Methodist Church community hall on Princess Street from 10am to 12 noon on Friday.

Games, crafts and music offer people the chance to relax, support each other and make new friends.

Volunteer Paula Lambe, who set up the cafe in 2017, said: “It will be wonderful to open the doors once more on a Friday morning and meet together again.

"We would like reach out to others who may like to join us each week.

"Many with dementia and carers supporting them have felt isolated during the challenging lockdown period. We would like to extend them a warm hand of friendship. "

During the pandemic, buddying, a What’s App group and small gifts helped volunteers keep in touch with those who missed the café.

The cafe will be open on Friday, September 17 and will resume weekly sessions from Friday, October 1.

Many residents from Knutsford, Mobberley, Chelford and surrounding areas have enjoyed the warm and friendly atmosphere over recent years.

Carers are brought together and often gain mutual support and friendship from each other.

People attending can relax in the company of others who understand. Volunteers are sensitive to the needs of those attending and are DBS checked. Safeguarding and dementia awareness sessions have been provided.

Transport can be provided. Call 01565 652251 for further information.
