KNUTSFORD Cricket Club’s second string exacted revenge on Heaton Mersey Village with a comfortable four-wicket victory.

After a nail-biting home defeat earlier in the season, the hosts were invited to bat on a green-tinged wicket due to the recent rain.

Wickets fell regularly, only Vinny Jowery (45) and Charles Crichlow (28) scoring anything of note as HMV were bowled out for 129 with four bowlers sharing the spoils – Waqar Khan (2/38), Darragh Downey (1/31), Atal Jan (3/18) and Nadim Alam (3/35).

Knutsford calmly moved to 35, before the loss of three wickets, but then a 41-run partnership between Shake Shimul (29) and Harris Khan (15) settled nerves. Waqar Khan with a polished 42 not out saw his team home.

The first XI collapsed to 57-6 at home, however Rana Saqlain (87) and Tayef Ahmed (37) combined in a 125- run partnership, to help tally 185-8.

Talisman Saqlain then took 3-32, aided with Zahid Saleem (3-35) and Mohammad Alif (4-34), to dismiss Bunbury for 158 and complete a successful day across the club.
