KNUTSFORD pupils have raised £900 for Cancer Research UK after completing a 100km bike ride in Tatton Park.

The idea was born at Yorston Lodge Prep School’s Charities Club, which is run by the pupils with the aim of raising funds and awareness for charitable causes of their choice.

The children, alongside deputy headteacher Dan Hatfield, each completed 20km of the park, whilst drumming up significant donations from friends, family and their online Just Giving page.

Janet Dallimore, headmistress at Yorston Lodge Preparatory School said: "We are tremendously proud of each child for their hard work and dedication to the challenge.

"It wasn’t easy but they completed it as a team.

"The children used their own knowledge and insight to plan and complete this challenge which is a huge achievement from children at such a young age.

"The Charities Club is a key part of our extra-curricular programme, which ensures each member develops the knowledge and understanding to become responsible global citizens of the future."
