NEW look Knutsford FC’s performance in their first game of the Cheshire Football League season has been branded ‘embarrassing’ and ‘not good enough’ by chairman Jimmy Evans.

Reds, who had six new players making their debut including three under 21s, were defeated 5-0 at Garswood United.

“Knutsford lacked energy, intensity and a forward capability – rarely testing the Garswood goalkeeper,” said Evans.

“Garswood were better organised, fitter and more determined and deserved their win though 5-0 was a flattering scoreline.”

Reds will be looking to do better in their two home games over the next five days.

Poynton visit Manchester Road for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, and then Whitchurch come to town on Tuesday, kick-off 6.45pm.

A very poor start, going down 2-0 in the opening 10 minutes, was a blow for a Knutsford side that rarely looked as if they could turn it around.

Garswood were sharper and hungrier.
