A COLOURFUL floral extravaganza celebrating a summer of love expects to attract thousands of visitors.

RHS Flower Show opens at Tatton Park today and runs until Sunday.

RHS Young Designer of the Year welcomes five new designers who will use the show as a platform to raise awareness of environmental and social issues including climate change and mental health.

Former RHS Young Designer finalist Anca Panait returns to the show to explore the power of colours and how they affect our mental health and wellbeing.

The show will welcome winning garden designs submitted by listeners of BBC Radio Manchester, Merseyside and Lancashire, showing what their locality means to them.

Tatton Park Estate has teamed up with the RHS to create a garden that represents the wilder planting to encourage visitors to explore greater biodiversity in their own gardens.

Experts will demonstrate how to create a floral backdrop for selfies.

Fleurs de Villes will be making its debut, working with talented florists to create a spectacular display of exquisitely dressed mannequins composed of hundreds of beautiful cut flowers in support of Breast Cancer Research.

Nurseries and growers will offer a feast of plants for gardeners to grow at home.

Experts will share top tips in Talks and demonstrations.
