A FREE dog washing station is available at a new pet shop in Wilmslow.

Pets at Home opened a new store at Handforth Dean Shopping Park on Friday, offering a host of services, a vet surgery and pet care advice.

The company is celebrating 30 years of providing the nation with a wealth of pet care products, services and expertise.

Until August 1, customers can wash and blow dry their dog themselves free of charge, without the hassle of cleaning up the bathroom mess at home.

The new store features a service desk information area where pet owners can receive flea and worm subscription advice.

Pet owners can also book in for a free pet food consultation with a trained nutrition advisor, who can advise on the best food as well as offering a free weight check and a coat and harness fitting service for dogs.

A groom room salon offers a wide range of grooming services from full grooms to spa treatments, bath, brush and blow dries to nail clipping.

The salon is open seven days a week and customers can book appointments online at petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/the-groom-room.

Customers can use the dog self-wash station free until August 1. After this date it will cost £5 to use for up to 10 minutes.

A Vets4Pets surgery is opening within the Pet Care Centre which will provide an extensive range of veterinary services, with a full operating theatre, digital x-ray suite and an in-house laboratory in our purpose-built surgery.

Store manager Heather Ellis said: “We are so excited to open the doors to our new Pet Care Centre and can’t wait to welcome pet owners and their pets from the local area into store.

"From our vets, to our groomers and pet care advisors, we really do offer everything a pet owner might need to keep their pets happy, healthy and safe. We’re also always on hand to offer any pet care advice, support or guidance they might need.”

A highly skilled team of vets and experienced nurses, together with dedicated pet health advisors will be there to support customers and their pets with all their healthcare needs, from preventative care and welfare advice to treating sick and injured pets.

The modern surgery offers a waiting area designed with pets and their owners in mind.

Equipped with relaxing pet blankets, separate areas for cats and dogs and comfortable seating to make the experience as pleasant as possible.

A small animal pet village has also been designed to give animals space to play, hide, eat and sleep, and an aquatic centre, with a wide range of fish, tanks and accessories.

New customers can sign up to Pets at Home’s free VIP club, to receive 10 per cent off their first shop and 25 per cent discount on their first full groom at the groom room. Puppy and kitten owners can also join Pets at Home’s free VIP puppy and kitten club to get exclusive offers and expert advice.

A Pets at Home Foundation adoption centre is also based in the store, providing shelter for pets that can no longer be cared for by their current owners. The charity exists to find small pets a forever loving home.
