A CARE home which lost six residents and a long-serving member of staff during the Covid pandemic held a remembrance service to mark the opening of a memorial garden.

On June 13, Sharston House nursing home in Knutsford opened the new garden which features a heart-shaped flowerbed as the centrepiece and a permanent tribute to the residents and support worker Napoleon Acero who lost their lives in 2020.

Staff, residents and their families were joined at the service by relatives of residents who lost their lives to Covid and Reverend Paul Deakin from St Cross Church.

Nish Gottlieb, manager of the Kingsley Healthcare run home, in Manor Park South, said: “At the height of the pandemic we sadly lost six residents as well as Napoleon who was a much-loved, long-serving member of staff.

“It was a very difficult period for staff as well as residents and their families who could not see each other because of the lockdown.

“It was very important for everyone to create a permanent memorial and the service was a very positive experience. I would like to thank the Rev Paul Deakin and everyone at the church.”
