SPEEDING is an issue that Knutsford residents feel passionately about.

This is according to a recent Facebook post by the Knutsford Guardian in which readers provided their thoughts as to which roads need a speed camera to combat speeding drivers.

There are 18 in Cheshire East, and readers have had their say as to where additional ones should be based off their experience on the roads.

Manchester Road was one of the most popular calls for which Linda Smyth encouraged a permanent speed camera.

Martyn Symes said: “Manchester Road for sure. A race track!! It needs slowing down and a crossing further up near Garden Road.”

Katie Em added: “I live just off Manchester Road and one of the worst bits is by the roundabout, it’s like a drag race, as soon as people get over the roundabout they floor it.”

Town Lane in Mobberley was also suggested.

Samara Collins said: “Desperately needed for the narrow footpath on route to the school. It’s so dangerous.”

Goughs Lane was well supported after Sarah Chudley’s recommendation.

“Narrow road used as high speed cut through between Toft and Chelford roads. Made worse by no pavement at one end and grass verges meaning pushchairs or mobility aids needing to go on the road at times,” she said.

Judith Margaret Martin added: “Absolutely right! The speed that some people drive on there is insane!

Northwich Road was also picked up on coming from Knutsford into Tabley.

“Absolutely crazy speeds past my house near ambulance station,” said one resident.

‘Longridge main road’ was also a popular suggestion

Other suggestions included Chelford Road, Pickmere Lane, Broad Oak Lane and Tabley Road.
