POLICE have caught a man using his phone while driving on the M6 near Knutsford Services.
Officers with the North West Motorway Police stopped the driver this morning after spotting him tapping on his mobile.
When confronted by the officers, the man claimed he was 'switching on his sat nav'.
The driver was issued with a traffic offence a report.
A NWMP spokesman tweeted about the incident. He said: "This driver was found tapping on his mobile phone passing through Knutsford Services on the M6.
"When stopped, he stated it wasn't a phone anymore because he was switching on his sat nav.
"So, unlocking the phone, going through menus, tapping in an address etc, all the time with the phone in your hand, is not using a mobile phone apparently.
"A traffic offence report was issued."
