FIREFIGHTERS have been called in to rescue a trapped horse in Wilmslow.

Crews, including two specialist animal rescue units, were dispatched to the scene at a stable in Holly Lane at 7.45am this morning.

On arrival the crews discovered a horse had its leg trapped in a bar.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Two specialist animal rescue units from Lymm and Bollington attended the incident.

"The crews used specialist hydraulic tools and kickboards to release the horse safely, it was then passed to the care of its owner.

"Firefighters were detained at the scene for around 45 minutes."
