A GLOBAL logistics company has donated sanitising equipment to a children’s charity to help keep visitors safe this summer.

Blacksmith Freight has sent more than 500 bottles of hand sanitiser and anti-bacterial wipes to the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) to provide extra protection measures for youngsters and their families when their residential programmer reopens in a few weeks.

The company, which is based at Manchester Airport’s freight terminal, has handled the import of thousands of hand sanitisers from overseas during the pandemic and they wanted to donate the surplus stock to a worthy charitable cause.

CAFT provides help and support for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children and their families in the north west but its overnight care has been closed for more than 12 months due to Covid-19.

Ian Eccles, chief executive officer of CAFT, said: “We are so grateful to local businesses like Blacksmith Freight who have been so generous in donating these essential items.

“Not only does it allow us to reopen with extra protection measures in place but this also means that we can invest our fundraising on other items that entertain and challenge our children in a supportive environment.”
