A MAN from Wilmslow who was found in possession of cannabis when he was stopped in his car by police, was also above the drug drive limit.

Rory Daniel McCrandal, of Morley Green Road, was banned from driving for three years after driving with traces of cocaine and cannabis in his blood.

He was behind the wheel of his black Citroen C2 on January 15 last year when he was stopped by the police on Altrincham Road.

31-year-old McGrandal was appearing at Stockport Magistrates on April 9, where he pleaded guilty to three charges, including possession and being over the limit for both cocaine and cannabis.

The defendant provided officers with a sample of his blood, which was found to exceed the specified limit for both Benzoylecgonini (a breakdown of cocaine) and Delta-terrahydrocannabinol.

Police also seized a small amount of the cannabis, with magistrates ordering the class B drug be forfeited and destroyed.

As well as disqualifying McGrandal from driving for a period of 36 months, the bench also issued him with a fine of £466, while he must also pay a surcharge of £47 and Crown Prosecution costs of £300.

There was no separate penalty for the possession of cannabis charge, with magistrates taking into account the defendant's guilty pleas when imposing their sentence.
