A MOTORIST was taken to hospital after crashing into a lamppost over the weekend.
The 22-year-old driver collided with the street fixture while travelling down Golborne Road in Winwick on Saturday night.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 10pm and found the car to be on its side in a nearby field.
The driver was assessed by paramedics before being taken to Warrington Hospital.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 10pm on Saturday, police were called to reports of a collision on Golborne Road in Winwick.
“The collision involved one vehicle that had left the road and came to a stop in a field.
“Police and ambulance attended and the driver was checked over by paramedics.
“The 22-year-old was then taken to hospital.”
