STAFF at a nail salon based in Westbrook could not hide their delight after scoring a prestigious national award.

Naked Beauty and Training, which operates out of the Westbrook Centre, was named Nail Salon of The Year at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.

The business also came seventh in the coveted Salon of the Year category, despite only opening in its current location months before the first coronavirus lockdown.

Its owners hope this award is only the beginning, with the salon yet to fulfil its true potential.

“We just could not believe it – we were made up,” said founder and co-owner Sarah Russell.

“To win Nail Salon of The Year is a massive achievement, especially at the moment and because thousands of salons applied across the UK.

“We would have been happy to have been in the top 50, but to come first place in the nail salon category and to come seventh for Salon of the Year was just amazing.”

Still a relatively new business, the salon opened at the Westbrook Centre in November 2019 – just four months before the first lockdown.

It is run by Sarah and co-owner Sadie Hynes, who came together as two businesswomen from the area and have big plans for the future, starting with the salon’s reopening today, Tuesday.

“We cannot wait to reopen, and we are already looking quite busy with bookings for the next couple of weeks,” Sarah added.

“We finished our pedicure area a month before the lockdown and have fitted a new reception, waiting area and treatment rooms – just making the place the best that it can be.

“As a salon, we pride ourselves as being bespoke, luxury and high-end, and we try to be different and unique.

“The one thing we really pride ourselves on is our service, and everything we have been doing is to add to that.

“We want to be the best of the best, and for people to really enjoy their experience with us and talk about it with others.”
