A HOLMES Chapel dad has raised almost £800 for a preschool after completing an epic running challenge.

32-year-old Eddy Knightsbridge successfully ran four miles, every four hours for 48 hours last month – that’s almost two marathons back to back!

Eddy took on the challenge to support Holmes Chapel Community Preschool because both of his children go there and he wanted to do his bit to help the charity continue to successfully operate.

He said: "Both of my children age three and five have attended the preschool and the staff there are amazing.

"I cannot thank them enough for all they do to support our children.

"The preschool is a charity that relies heavily on volunteers and I have previously spent time helping out with odd jobs, maintenance and repairs.

"I really love supporting the preschool and this challenge was a great opportunity to raise additional funds for some new equipment."

A nutrition coach by profession, Eddy participated in the 48-hour event alongside athletes and amateurs across the globe. This summer he will be pushing himself to his mental and physical limit by attempting a 50 mile ultra-marathon.

Eddy’s run raised a total of £777 for Holmes Chapel Preschool which was extremely grateful for the donation.

Educating local children age 2-4, the charity run preschool has been busy supporting youngsters in learning key early years skills for over 20 years.

Focussed on providing a happy, secure and stimulating environment for children, the preschool will be using Eddy’s donation to buy new educational resources.

Preschool manager Emma Swindells explained: "We are incredibly grateful to Eddy for his fundraising efforts and to everyone who sponsored him to complete the challenge.

"As a charity we are reliant on fundraising to help us maintain the high standard of education which we offer our children.

"The 2020 lockdown considerably affected our ability to fundraise, so every penny raised this year really is making a huge difference.

"Local organisations such as Holmes Chapel Partnership and The Co-op Community Fund have also donated to us this year enabling us to buy new resources including a play kitchen, a new book corner, a mini greenhouse and sensory amaze boards for outdoor play.

"We are immensely grateful to our parents and the local community for their continued support and are always open to hearing new fundraising ideas."

Holmes Chapel Community Preschool is located adjacent to Holmes Chapel Primary School and offers childcare from 9am-3pm during term time.

The preschool can host 24 children per day and currently has vacancies for new September starters.

Spaces are also available for children in receipt of 2-year old funding, the 3 and 4 year olds Free Early Education Entitlement (up to 15 hours per week), plus fee paying children.

Tax free childcare vouchers are also accepted.
