A FUN competition is being launched to encourage shoppers to return to Knutsford as lockdown restrictions ease.

A Cuckoo in the Nest trail starts on Monday, April 12 and runs for a week.

Visitors rediscovering the town's unique attractions after the third lockdown will see products displayed in 20 shop windows which belong to other businesses.

People can pick up an entry form from any shop displaying the Cuckoo in the Nest poster to guess which shop the product belongs to.

The idea was inspired by a former Knutsford resident now living in Canada who reminisced about the trail which used to take place at Christmas.

Sandra Curties, town centre and marketing officer said “Councillors Lesley Dalzell, Jan Nicholson and Peter Coan all remembered the trail too and we decided to organise our mini version for the re-opening on April 12.

" It is a Covid safe, simple and fun trail that raises awareness of some of the more unique products the town's shops offer."

Cllr Jan Nicholson said:“I remember myself and my family taking part in Cuckoo in the Nest in Knutsford in the 1970s and I am delighted to see if return albeit at a different time of year.

"I hope residents will enjoy taking part and have fun guessing all the cuckoos."

Completed forms can be placed in a post box at Little Waitrose. All correct answers have a chance to win £15 worth of Knutsford vouchers. Winners will be drawn on April 20.

Posters reminding people to follow Covid safety regulations will be displayed across the town as extra hand sanitisers are being made by town ranger Bob Garner.

The message 'Be Kind for Knutsford' will urge shoppers to work together to protect the community and keep everyone safe.
