SEXUAL predators, drug dealers and violent men were amongst the Wrexham and Flintshire criminals brought before the courts last month.

Justice has been served to many over March – with freshly sentenced crooks spending this Easter locked behind bars for their crimes.

The Leader has looked back at some of the court cases that have been featured in the paper this month following hearing at the region’s court buildings.

COURT: Mold Crown Court

CRIME: Possession of a knife

SENTENCE: 30 weeks in prison

WHAT THE JUDGE SAID: “The knife wasn't produced but it was found hidden in the belt of your trousers.”

PARAMEDICS discovered a man had a knife tucked into the waistband of his trousers as he was being treated in the back of an ambulance.

COURT: Mold Crown Court

CRIME: Public nuisance, racially aggravated harassment and assault.

SENTENCE: Two years and eight months in prison

WHAT THE JUDGE SAID: “Ultimately, the people of Deeside and the police do deserve and will get some respite from your offending.”

A DEESIDE drunk who accused a woman wearing a hijab of carrying a bomb in the street and caused misery across his town has been jailed.

CRIME: Assaulting a police officer

SENTENCE: Four months added to his current prison sentence

A PRISONER at HMP Berwyn has had his jail term extended after he threw a ‘foul liquid’ into the face of an officer.

SENTENCE: 16 months in jail and a four-year restraining order against his ex-partner

A QUEENSFERRY man punched his ex-girlfriend and tried to throw her down the stairs after accusing her of cheating on him, a court heard.

CRIME: Kidnap and escaping custody

SENTENCE: Five years and four months in prison

A PRISONER kidnapped a woman and threatened to kill her as part of a planned attempt to escape from custody, a court heard.

A WREXHAM sex offender has been jailed after he failed to tell police about his circumstances.

A FORMER Ruthin man has been jailed for taking hundreds of voyeuristic photos of a woman over several years.

A MAN who 'repeatedly' stabbed his ex-partner with a fork has been jailed.

CRIME: Racially aggravated assault

SENTENCE: 18 months in prison and banned from Hot Stuff Chinese Takeaway in Deeside

WHAT THE JUDGE SAID: “In the last couple of years, you have been more than a complete public nuisance.”

A "COMPLETE public nuisance" has been jailed after he punched and broke a protective screen at a Flintshire takeaway.

WHAT THE JUDGE SAID: "The three of you played crucial roles in a very sophisticated enterprise with huge quantities of class A drugs sent from Spain and the Netherlands into this country.”

THREE men have been jailed for their parts in a large scale operation which brought class A drugs into the UK from Spain and the Netherlands.

A MAN who was talked down from bridges by police four times in two weeks has had his jail term extended.
