AFTER a year of delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, a new dental clinic has now opened its doors to the public.

The Mobberley Road Dental Clinic has launched in Knutsford, replacing the former One Stop convenience store, which vacated the premises.

Owner and principal dentist Guy Ward, who already had a practice based upstairs, took the opportunity to expand onto the groundfloor.

And, despite the challenges of the last 12 months, Guy and his team are delighted open their new clinic today (April 6).

He said: “We are thrilled to be able to reveal our new space and are looking forward to resuming normal service and welcoming back all of our patients.

“We were keen to extend and develop the business, so we leapt at the chance to take over the downstairs space.

"We remain at heart a family practice but can now offer bespoke, private treatments for those that are looking for something a little more aesthetic, while still looking after our existing patients.”

Now the building work has finally been completed, the clinic is Covid-safe.

Guy, who lives in Knutsford, added: “Although the building work took longer than we hoped due to Covid-related delays and material shortages, what we have been able to do is to create a space that is completely Covid-friendly.

"We are one of only a handful of practices nationally, built during lockdown, and had to adhere to strict guidelines throughout the build.

"This means that we can guarantee hygiene, safety and peace of mind for our patients with brand-new, Covid-secure dental surgeries and state-of-the-art equipment, including in-built air exchange systems to keep the surgery air clean.”

As well as cosmetic dentistry, the clinic will be providing a range of specialist treatments including implants, Invisalign to straighten patient’s smiles, and facial aesthetics, in one of the three new dental surgeries downstairs.

And, although the practice currently has an NHS waiting list and can only see NHS patients on an emergency basis, Guy is prioritising paediatric oral care and is continuing to see children for regular check-ups.

He said: “I’m passionate about paediatric dentistry and don’t agree that children should have to wait until after lockdown to be seen.”

Although Guy and his wife, Sarah, who works behind the scenes at the practice, had planned to celebrate the launch in style with patients and other local businesses, current restrictions mean this will not be possible.

However, they are hoping to be able to make use of their outside space at the back of the premises and throw a summer party as a thanks to patients and local residents who have been so understanding about the building work.
