THIS is the number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in the past week.

In the seven days to March 22, 164 people tested positive – a rate of 78.1 per 100,000 people.

By comparison, in the seven days leading up to March 15, there were 148 new cases in the town – the equivalent of 70.5 per 100,000.

Data for the most recent four days (March 23-26) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.

Of the 315 local areas in England, 136 have seen a rise in case rates, 174 have seen a fall and five are unchanged.

Corby in Northamptonshire continues to have the highest rate in England, with 151 new cases recorded in the seven days to March 22, the equivalent of 209.1 cases per 100,000 people.

This is up from 188.3 per 100,000 in the seven days to March 15.

Barnsley has the second highest rate, followed by North Lincolnshire.
