POLICE are still appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery in Knutsford.

Two men burst into the Natwest Bank in King Street shortly before 1pm on Friday and threatened staff before stealing cash.

The Natwest Bank has confirmed that no staff were injured.

The two men fled the area on a black motorbike.

Armed police swarmed into the town as roads and roads were closed.

Both rider and pillion passenger were dressed all in black and the rider of the motorbike was wearing a distinctive multi-patterned black and red helmet.

Police conducted a thorough search of the area and enquiries are ongoing.

DS Stephen Joyce said: “We are making a number of enquiries in the area and are keen to speak to anyone who has information that will help us. If you were in the area at the time and have dashcam, get in touch on 101 or via our website.

“There is also the chance that the suspects discarded their motorbike somewhere in the town or surrounding area, if you should come across this, or a green petrol can, please get in touch.”

A Natwest Bank spokesman said: “We continue to work with police on their investigation.”
