YOUNG athletes at Gymfinity Gymnastics have been kept busy during the country's third coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

Although the gym doors on Westfield Drive, Knutsford, have had to be kept firmly shut so far this year, activities at home have been stepped up instead.

And one such event challenged the members in a number of creative ways.

"We recently did an online competition where gymnasts competed in a floor routine and won awards for 'crazy hair' and 'best entry number'," said Ruth Chapman, director.

Among those to catch the eye was Amelie Abel, 9, pictured, with her colourful unicorn-style locks and a head-turning entry number design that bore remarkable resemblance to her coach, Ashleigh Bradbury.

There were rewards, too.

"Our coaches hand delivered medals and awards to the gymnasts' houses," said Ruth.

"As a club we have worked really hard this lockdown to keep our gymnasts engaged."
