A MOBBERLEY church is set to be redeveloped and modernised as part of a new project called Vision 25.

A transformational worship space, community cafe and improved disabled access will be added to Mobberley Methodist Church (MMC) as the four-year renovation plans aim to provide a welcoming environment for the whole community.

Rev Scott Manning joined MMC five years ago and after increasing the number of people worshipping online and in the church he his keen get started with Vision 25.

He said: “The Methodist Church is a historical building dating back to the 1800s.

“Over the years, it has become apparent that there is a need to modernise the church to provide a range of facilities suitable for our growing and multi-generational patronage.

“We’re very excited to be embarking on this project and look forward to not only raising the funds but having some fun along the way.”

The first stage of the project will see a garden of remembrance known as Cherith Gardens, inspired by the story of Elijah, and there will be a commemoration wall, benches and a section for pets that have passed away.

There will also be a Covid-19 memorial honouring those who have died during the pandemic and a water feature creating a peaceful environment for visitors to think and reflect with an annual memorial Sunday in November.

Around a third of the money needed for the redevelopment will come from fundraising with plans for charity car washes, Zumbathons and a harvest festival already in place.
