A SCHOOLBOY was taken to hospital with serious injuries after falling down a steep embankment.
The 12-year-old had been playing on a swing when he fell into a wooded area near Chesham Road in Wilmslow at 6.30pm last night.
The boy was gently hoisted back up from the steep embankment in a dramatic rescue by firefighters.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The 12-year-old boy was brought to safety by crews from the rope rescue unit using a pulley system after he fell from a swing.
"He was then handed into the care of paramedics and taken to Wythenshawe Hospital with injuries believed to be serious."
Crews using three fire engines, two from Wilmslow and one from Lymm plus the rope rescue unit were at the scene for around two hours.
