THE VICS COLUMN – by Darren Barrow

THE turn of the year saw the club launch its latest fundraiser, ‘The 200 Club,’ which would see members added to the club’s very own weekly and monthly bumper cash-prize lottery.

With the current lockdown in place, the club set a realistic target of 200 members which has been exceeded within the first month of draws, with members ranging from the club’s kit man to former players and Vics legends.

All members were signed up online due to the current pandemic but once the Vics start to play matches again, we only envisage the draw going from strength to strength when we are able to reach out to those who are not on social media or regular readers of our website.

This month’s main prize winner, who received a cash prize of £200, was Katie Southam – wife of Mark who is a season ticket holder as well as his company, MS Landscaping & Driveways being a regular matchday sponsor at the club. She was thrilled to receive this unexpected prize.

The club has also handed out a further nine cash prizes to this month’s weekly winners which include Colin Buckley, who once watched the Vics for more than 500 consecutive home and away matches before finally having to miss one.

Another winner was Alan Whitby, who volunteers on a weekly basis down at Wincham Park alongside Witton Albion’s excellent ground staff to get the ground in great shape for the matches ahead.

This month’s winners are as follows:

Main monthly cash prize winner: Katie Southam

Week Two winners: Colin Buckley, Andy Ault and Alison Stackhouse

Week Three winners: Peter Prentice, Ally Dawber and Stephen Thomas

Week Four winners: Emma Starnes, Barbara Bazley and Alan Whitby

The club’s second bumper prize draw takes place this Saturday (February 27) with new members always welcome.

Should you wish to become a member, please contact Darren Barrow on 07596 277 443 or daznvfc@mail.com.

The cost is only a fiver a month and with prizes of £380 already handed out, it’s surely worth having a go.
