A ‘DERELICT eyesore’ of a pub which has been closed for nearly a decade is to be re-developed into a series of ‘bespoke family dwellings’.
The Stamford Arms, in Little Bollington, has been granted planning permission by Cheshire East Council officers — helped by ‘the developers acting with the residents best interests at heart’, according to ward councillor Kate Parkinson.
Cllr Parkinson added in representation: “Throughout the planning meetings and open evenings of which I have been present at, the developers have taken a keen interest in the views of the parishioners of Little Bollington and have sought to create a proposal that is satisfactory to residents and style of the area.
“Every step has had a consultation process which involved the Parish, and this has involved some serious scrutiny of the style of buildings, materials involved and access into and out of the site.
“Little Bollington [is] keen to see the dilapidated Stamford Arms site transformed into a suitable dwelling that will bring young families to the area. The proposal has affordable housing and has cut down the amount of houses and apartments to help stem the increase of traffic to the area.”
Now the application has been approved, work can begin on converting the pub and stables into nine and five apartments respectively — as well as constructing four new detached houses on the car park.
As part of approval, a section 106 agreement has been reached with developers Novo Property Group to ensure that the nine apartments in the pub are earmarked as affordable housing.
Novo will also have to pay £19,500 for children’s play, another £19,500 for amenity greenspace, £10,500 for outdoor sports, and £7,312.50 for allotments and community gardening.
