RESIDENTS and team members at Sunrise of Mobberley care home have received their first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine for Covid-19.

90 residents at the care home were delighted to receive their vaccination, with Sunrise of Mobberley’s nurses also receiving the highly effective injection on January 13.

The care home, which specialises in nursing care, will now be supporting the remaining team members who are booked to have their vaccinations over the coming weeks.

Speaking of the care home’s vaccination programme, Lisa Burrows, the General Manager of Sunrise of Mobberley, said:

"I am hugely grateful to Dr Nichola Herd and the wider Annandale Health Centre team for administering the vaccine at our care home.

"It was a truly momentous occasion and marks the beginning of our care home returning to a degree of normality.

"Throughout the pandemic, the entire Sunrise of Mobberley team has acted heroically to protect all of our residents.

"From our nurses to our housekeeping team, I commend them all for the dedicated and unrelenting care which they have given to our residents and fellow team members during this challenging time."

Audrey Davidson, a Nurse at the care home, said: "I am relieved that our residents now have a degree of immunity against Covid-19.

"I feel proud and fortunate to work at Sunrise of Mobberley, our care home’s smooth and stringent rollout of this vaccination has been a resounding success and I now have peace of mind for the future."

Theresa McGonagle, another Nurse at Sunrise of Mobberley, added: "I welcome the opportunity to have the vaccination as it means our residents will be safer from the virus and that I can safely see my grandchildren.

"It was also wonderful to receive the vaccine alongside my colleagues as this has further strengthened our collective bond within Sunrise of Mobberley."
