VILLAGERS have been thanked for supporting donations to a charity which supports families affected by domestic abuse in Cheshire East.
The thanks comes from Linda Taylor, president of Holmes Chapel WI, which has adopted Cheshire Without Abuse as its nominated charity.
The charity, now known as My CWA, was founded in 1977 by the late Lily Jones, who was determined to help victims of domestic abuse to escape.
Linda said: “Customarily at each monthly meeting we collect toiletries, small useful items and children’s toys generously donated by our members. These we normally deliver in the spring and just before Christmas.
Donated toys and games
“This year during lockdown we gave an extra donation after recycling our ‘unused’ VE Day Jarbola jars, and consequently were able to hand over four boxes of goodies.
“Since then we have received further generous donations from WI members, the BookWorms and residents in the village, which has meant a welcome boost to our Christmas collection, for which we are truly grateful.
“Another nine boxes were delivered in early December. A big thank you to everyone for your generosity.”
