STYAL FC and Wilmslow Albion will be hoping to return to action over the festive period though they are both facing tough tasks.

They may still be fourth in the Cheshire Football League Division Two table, but Styal have not played a competitive match in two months.

So it will be a huge test for them when they head to table toppers Knowsley South on Monday, kick-off noon.

Styal, beaten 5-2 at home by Newton Athletic on their last outing on October 24, will be the latest side to see if they can become the first team in this Covid-19 affected season to lower South's sails.

Knowsley, unbeaten in eight games with their latest victims being Newton Athletic 2-1 on Saturday, currently hold a four point-lead over Winnington Avenue YC 94.

Styal have played two games less and are 10 points behind the leaders.

Wilmslow Albion are another team scheduled to be playing against their league's leaders over the festive period.

They head to Elton Vale in Manchester League Division One on Monday, kick-off 2pm.

Albion are currently ninth in the table with two wins and two losses to show for their season's efforts so far, while Elton have six wins and a draw in the bag having played twice as many matches in this Covid-19 affected campaign.

Albion currently have the best goal-scoring average in the division, four per game, but they have also been leaking an average of three goals per match.

Last time out, on October 31, they won 7-1 at Tintwistle Athletic.

Their season's other win was 4-0 at home to Boothstown on September 26.
