WINSFORD Town Council has objected to plans to build seven homes on Woodford Lane.

The planning application is Over Estates (Winsford) Ltd’s second attempt to build on the site, after seeing a previous application to build eight dwellings rejected.

Planning officers felt the original scheme was an ‘overly cramped form of development’.

Now, a Winsford Town Council letter of objection says: “The meeting was inquorate, [but] with the information before Members [it is] recommended for refusal.

“Members have concerns about the over development of the site. They were also concerned about the development being in close proximity to the church and school and the impact on the traffic.”

Nearby residents have also voiced their concerns over the proposals, with one neighbour going so far as to pledge to ‘take  more action’ if the plans get approval.

In a design and access statement to the council, Over Estates said: “The proposed development makes best use of previously developed land on this brownfield site with the addition of residential units which will provide much needed private accommodation at the affordable end of the market.

“The proposal by using a brown field site near the town centre with access by foot to public transport and local amenities is in line with sustainable development policies.”
