BEXTON Primary School is celebrating being ranked at 107th place in the Sunday Times top 250 state primary schools in the country.

Schools are ranked by the aggregated average scaled scores achieved by children in the year 6 reading, grammar and maths SATs assessments.

Headteacher Emily Armstrong said: “This is fantastic news. I am so proud of the children and staff for all their hard work. They truly deserve the recognition.

“This is an impressive increase from the previous year’s position of 348th out of 15,000 primary schools across the country.”

The school has also received a 5-star certificate of excellence from the Schools Guide 2020-2021 which, in addition to overall attainment, recognises the wider elements of a successful school such as progress, pupil-teacher ratios and absence rates.

Mrs Armstrong added: “Bexton is a great place to learn as everyone works together to make the children’s experience of school a memorable and enjoyable one.

“We’ve always said we want children at Bexton to be happy as well as being a high performing school, and I truly believe we achieve both through a carefully-planned curriculum that engages and captures the children’s imaginations.”
