JONES Homes North West is seeking planning approval to build 10 four and five-bedroom houses on land at Little Stanneylands in Wilmslow.

The application to Cheshire East Council envisages the demolition of the buildings on site, with access proposed from a new priority-controlled junction to Stanneylands Road.

The application site is on the northern edge of Wilmslow and is surrounded by existing and new residential development on all sides.

The site was previously used as a horse training facility, but is no longer in use as the associated paddocks have recently been developed for housing.

The northern part of the site is allocated for residential development in the adopted Local Plan Strategy, as part of further land to the north and west.

The remainder of the allocated site is being developed by David Wilson Homes to create 174 new homes.

A report with the application said the scheme was consistent with all relevant development plan policies and national planning policy, and all technical matters relating to the residential development of the site had been addressed.

A Stanneylands Drive resident said: “There has already been significant construction by this applicant via David Wilson Homes where 150 houses have been built or are still in the process of being built.

“The DWH project has during the current construction period impacted negatively on the local residents, heavy goods vehicles damaging roads and verges, massive amounts of mud on the road and noise pollution.

“This proposed new project of 10 executive houses costing, I would imagine, based on DWH house prices, in excess of a million pounds each, serves what housing necessity? The housing proposed does nothing to elevate any issues around availability or affordable housing in the area.

“The council seems unwilling to hold contractors accountable for the damage they cause and the road surfaces on Stanneylands Road and Drive have been destroyed by HGV traffic.”
