FEWER than 100 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across Cheshire East and West in the latest daily Covid-19 update.

New figures from Public Health England cover the 24-hour period up to 9am today, November 23.

In Cheshire West, including Northwich and Winsford, there were 40 cases of Covid-19 over that time.

Meanwhile in Cheshire East, including Knutsford and Middlewich, there were 59 cases of the virus over the same period.

Lower daily case numbers on a Monday have been a common occurrence in the Public Health England data throughout the pandemic.

However, today’s case numbers are much lower than the figures for Cheshire East and West that were published last Monday, November 16.

On that day, 256 cases were confirmed in 24 hours across Cheshire West, while 76 cases were confirmed in Cheshire East.

There has also been a drop in the seven-day infection rates for both boroughs published today.

The latest figures from Public Health England cover the seven-day period up to Wednesday, November 18.

In Cheshire East, the infection rate now stands at 193.7 per 100,000 people, down from 196.8 yesterday and 250.9 one week ago.

Meanwhile in Cheshire West, the infection rate now stands at 242.8 per 100,000 people, down from 264.1 yesterday and 325 one week ago.
