PEOPLE who like to keep in trim are being asked for their views on plans to instal exercise equipment at a Knutsford park.
Friends of the Moor wants to hear from users about their ideas to install a trim trail in the award-winning park.
The group is seeking the community’s views on proposals to install a six-piece wooden trim trail on the Moor to provide publicly-accessible outdoor exercise equipment.
Traversing wall
The idea has been discussed by the group since it was suggested in the 2017 ‘Moor Ideas’ survey.
The suggested exercise items include a pair of sit-up benches, a horizontal ladder (monkey bars), chin-up bars, push-up bars, a traversing wall and multi-purpose exercise bench.
Exercise bench
The Friends group wants to hear from potential users of the equipment to know if they would use the suggested items, and if other items would be more useful.
People are being asked which would be highest priority if the group had to fund the items over a number of years, and whether people would prefer them grouped together or spread out over a larger area, possibly divided between the Moor and the Barncroft.
Abs bench
The group, which represents users of the Moor and Barncroft, will look to fund the items through grant funding.
The Friends have chosen a timber trim-trail to be in keeping with the natural character of the Moor rather than more intrusive steel equipment or gym equipment.
Chin-ups
Friends chairman Adam Keppel-Green said: “We know the Moor is a popular place for keeping fit and that there is nothing like this elsewhere in the town.
“We want to know that what we are suggesting is what people will use, so I would appreciate any feedback on our proposals.”
Parallel bars
Adam said he was hopeful that, subject to funding, the first pieces of equipment could be installed in 2021.
He added: “I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to get a grant to cover the full £16,000 we need to install this equipment in one go, but if not we’ll look to secure smaller grants and install pieces over a number of years.”
