RESIDENTS at Sharston House nursing home in Knutsford have been celebrating the Diwali festival of lights.

Home manager Nishi Gottlieb thought the festival would be the perfect tonic for her residents, who have been deprived of family visits for so much of the past seven months.

Mrs Gottlieb said: “It is a festival of new beginnings and symbolises the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, so it could not be more fitting to celebrate this as we hopefully come to the end of the pandemic.”

The home was given a cheery glow through the lighting of traditional candle lights while residents enjoyed a feast of Indian food prepared by staff. Staff dressed up for the occasion in traditional costumes.

“Residents really loved the food,” said Mrs Gottlieb.
