NEW figures from Public Health England show another 242 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Cheshire East and West.
The latest figures cover the 24-hour period up to 9am today, October 29.
In Cheshire East, including Knutsford and Middlewich, there were 123 new cases of Covid-19 in that time – taking the borough’s total to 5,917 since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile in Cheshire West, including Northwich and Winsford, there were 119 new cases of coronavirus in that time – taking the borough’s total to 5,589 since the pandemic started.
Today’s total figure of 242 cases across the two boroughs is the lowest in recent days – following 287 yesterday and 293 on Tuesday.
Both boroughs have seen higher case numbers this week than last, despite being in the second week of a Tier 2 lockdown.
From Public Health England figures released last night, Cheshire West’s seven-day infection rate had risen from 190.9 per 100,000 people to 222.4 per 100,000 people in the space of a week.
Cheshire East’s had also risen from 173.1 per 100,000 people to 217.9 per 100,000 people.
Across the UK, a total of 23,065 new coronavirus cases have been announced today.
